Elinor Wahrmann

Meet Elinor

I’m glad you’re here.

Life doesn’t always fall apart all at once. Sometimes it’s a relationship that no longer feels the way it used to. Sometimes it’s the pressure of trying to hold everything together. Sometimes it’s a transition you never expected—or simply the feeling that somewhere along the way, you’ve lost touch with yourself.

My role is to create a space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s been happening, and work together to find practical ways to move forward.

What it’s like to work together

People often imagine therapy as sitting across from an expert who analyzes them or tells them what to do. That’s not how I see it.

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation—one built on curiosity, trust, and collaboration.

Together, we’ll explore what’s been happening, identify patterns that may no longer serve you, and find practical ways to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Warm, engaged, and grounded in real life.

Collaborative

Therapy is something we do together. I’ll bring perspective and guidance while making room for your voice, pace, and goals.

Thoughtful

We’ll slow things down enough to understand what’s beneath the surface rather than simply pushing difficult feelings aside.

Practical

Insight matters, but so does everyday life. We’ll translate what we discover into changes you can actually use.

Professional experience, with a deeply human approach.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Altos, California. My work is informed by evidence-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Rather than following one approach for everyone, I tailor therapy to each individual or couple and what they need most.

You can expect me to be present, honest, and down-to-earth.

Outside the therapy room, I appreciate the relationships and experiences that help life feel more balanced—time with family and friends, being outdoors, creating new experiences, and finding moments of calm in the middle of busy days.

Those experiences remind me that life is rarely perfect, and that meaningful change often happens through small, intentional steps.
